Moving a WordPress site to Bluehost: what to prepare first
Bluehost currently lists a free site migration tool with its WordPress plans. A migration is still safer when you prepare your domain, backups, email, forms, and DNS before moving anything.
Before the move
Create a current backup, inventory important plugins, note your PHP requirements, record DNS settings, and confirm where your email is hosted. A website migration and an email migration are separate jobs.
Use staging and test before switching traffic
Bluehost lists WordPress staging on current plans. Test pages, forms, checkout flows, logins, images, redirects, and mobile layouts before pointing the domain at the new host.
After DNS changes
Check SSL, redirects, analytics, Search Console verification, canonical URLs, sitemap access, and any transactional email. Keep the old hosting account available until you are confident the live site is complete.
Check the current Bluehost migration tools and plan requirements. Check the live offer before buying because plan details and promotional prices can change.
